FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I submit my idea?

What kind of ideas are you looking for?
We are looking for any kind of idea that improves the safety, efficiency, or tools used by linemen. Whether it’s a new product, a process improvement, or a modification to existing equipment, we want to hear it.
Do I get paid for my idea?
In short, it depends. Our history and credibility is built on fair and equitable partnerships with linemen. We will do everything in our power to do right by you. However, if you submit an idea, you are doing so voluntarily. If we choose to pursue your invention, we will work together to create a mutually beneficial arrangement. This and more is spelled out in the Utility Solutions Invention Submission Agreement.
Can I submit multiple ideas?
Absolutely! There is no limit to how many ideas you can submit.
Will my idea be treated as confidential?
As we are a growing company, many people inside and outside of the company will need to be aware of the idea in order to evaluate it and develop it, so no, your idea cannot be treated as confidential. Protection of your idea/intellectual property is strongly recommended prior to submission, for example, by filing patent applications (provisional or non-provisional).
Should I file a patent before submitting my idea?
We recommend you protect your idea to the best of your ability before submitting, though it is not required. While some linemen come to us with patented and patent pending ideas, not all of them do.
Will you help me file a patent?
No, we are not able to help you file a patent. We recommend meeting with a professional advisor of your own choice in order to file a patent.
How will I know if you like my idea?
We will review every submission and let you know in writing whether or not we choose to pursue it. We may wish to contact you to learn further details, but in any case, you will receive a clear answer as to whether or not we wish to pursue it.
